w.c.s.
Entr'ouvert has developed a software able to design online forms and consultations, w.c.s. (Web Communication Service). It is Liberty Alliance compliant and gives non specialised civil servants the ability to create easily online forms and even consultations (to collect the opinion of the population about a particular matter). w.c.s. is released under the GNU GPL license.
w.c.s. has a neat and useful administration interface build with bits of AJAX. AJAX uses the Cascading Style Sheet power and Javascript on the client side, to interpret the HTTP server answer. Applications are then more reactive, the amount of data exchanged between the browser and the HTTP server is largely reduced. The request processing time on the server side is slightely reduced as well, as part of the process is done on the computer the request comes from.
